Rebel Salute 2023 : Queen Ifrica gives a moral lesson to Sam Smith

Queen Ifrica artist clash Sam Smith

While the Rebel Salute took place after a two-year absence last weekend in Jamaica and is applauded as having brought great stage performances by established artists and rising stars of reggae (see the line-up here ) a note still tarnishes the whole thing. Queen Ifrica, whose very conservative positions on sexual orientation are already known, could not help but call the English artist Sam Smith "dutty" (dirty) and give him a moral lesson.

This reaction from Queen Ifrica, which can undoubtedly be described as homophobic, follows the song Gimme released a few days ago by Sam Smith featuring Jamaican artist Koffee and Canadian singer Jessie Reyez.

This title is accompanied by an explicit and very sensual queer clip, it being understood that Sam Smith had already openly declared himself non-binary. Koffee in the clip is presented there as enjoying the female presence around him. The release of this clip provoked several reactions similar to those of Queen Ifrica, whether in Jamaica or even elsewhere...

In the meantime, Gimme has already entered 3 important Billboard Tops (American magazine that publishes weekly rankings of American musical titles) and the charts of many countries ...
