Popcaan, who has undoubtedly been one of the hottest artists in Jamaica for several years, as well as one of the most streamed new generation Jamaican artists on Youtube in 2022, has just released his 5th studio album Great Is He (after Where We Come From (2014), Forever (2018), Vanquish (2019), and FIXTAPE (2020).
On the program, 17 generous titles are presented, including high-flying featurings with Burna Boy (on the afrobeats track Aboboyaa), Drake (on the big tunes unveiled recently We Caa Done), but also Chronic Law (on St. Thomas Native, which pays homage to his birthplace) and his company Toni-Ann Singh (Next To Me).
The opus mixes styles of various inspirations such as dancehall, afrobeats, R'n'B. Great importance is given to the texts, as often with Popcaan, which offers personal memories and retraces the path traveled to get there. Rather introspective and with a serious tone, the album also leaves room for dance and lighter themes on certain titles.
