These last few weeks have been intense for Vybz Kartel, imprisoned for murder since 2011 and sentenced to life in 2014. He has indeed revealed his engagement to Sidem Öztürk, who was even interviewed by Fox 5 New York. Following this interview, the Jamaican newspaper The Gleaner revealed the information according to which the artist would have been transmitted.
Vybz Kartel is said to have moved from the Horizon facility in Spanish Town Road back to Tower Street Adult Correctional Center (in a high-security unit) in central Kingston, where he had previously been incarcerated.
We remember in particular in 2016, that Vybz Kartel had already been the subject of the same transfer by the prison authorities. Some asserted at the time that the reason for this transfer lay in the finding in his cell of song recording equipment. Some sources said it was a punitive transfer...
As for his recent transfer, the prison authorities did not comment on his causes...
In the meantime, the artist continues to release sounds regularly (see his Youtube channel). Like what even locked up, Vybz Kartel is still at the heart of the news.
